5 popular first dance songs – Part 2

Here's part 2 in my regular series of popular first dance songs! It's all about you, your partner, and no-one else!

A first dance at The Walled Garden in Cowdray, Midhurst

Back in February, I posted five popular first dance tracks I play at weddings.

In this post, I’ll showcase 5 more tracks that have been chosen recently as a first dance so if you’re struggling to choose one of your own, maybe one of these will press your buttons…

  • The One by Kodaline – I really like this as a first dance track. It came out a couple of years ago when Ed Sheeran was pretty much THE choice at the time and the lyrics I think are very first dancey without a doubt!
  • Madness by Muse – I have to be honest, I’m not a big MUSE fan so when this was selected recently I was a bit unsure until I listened to it. It’s dark and mysterious but a stunning tune and easily one of my favourite tracks of theirs.
  • One Great Mystery by Lady Antebellum – Again, another song I’d not heard of…and this is one of the best things about being a DJ – you get introduced to some awesome tunes! In typical Antebellum style, it’s a beautiful, dreamy song in a country style.
  • Tenerife Sea by Ed Sheeran – Certainly joins the ranks of one of the most perfect first dance songs of all time. It’s got a great tempo and perfect lyrics, Ed is almost the king of first dance songs!
  • Chantal Keviazuk – Feels Like Home – A dreamy, piano-based song with beautiful lyrics, another perfect song for doing a first dance shuffle at your evening reception. She’s got an awesome voice and an ever-so-slightly country style. Just, beautiful.

Now, I’ll be honest, the Muse track in the list above seems to be a very odd choice but it does work. Another good track of theirs is Aftermath which I’ve also played as a first dance!

That will do for now, how you’ve enjoyed listening to some of these. I’ll be back in a couple of weeks with a new update!
