The First Dance is one of the most important songs of any wedding day. Hours can easily be spent on Spotify or YouTube listening to songs followed by searching out the lyrics only to find out that the song you thought was perfect was actually about someone’s previous lover!
To help you, here’s a list of 5 popular first dance songs that I play on a regular basis…
1/ John Legend – All Of Me
One of John’s biggest hits and at one point was pretty much EVERY first dance at EVERY gig I did. The thing is, I really like this song and I never get tired of hearing it. The lyrics are perfect and the song is dedicated to his wife.
2/ Ed Sheeran – Thinking Out Loud
Like All Of Me, this is one of the most popular first dance songs of all time not surprising as it spent a whole year in the UK top 40! There was one particular weekend where this song was the first dance choice for each wedding I DJ’d at and that doesn’t happen very often!
3/ Lifehouse – You & Me
This song has been around a while, since 2005 in fact however in the last year or so it’s become a really popular choice for weddings. I can only put that down to the fact it’s probably appeared in a TV show maybe?
4/ Lonestar – Amazed
Another popular choice, Amazed is one of those tunes that has made its way over from America where it is a super-popular-choice for first dances. It’s an American country-rock song and it was Lonestar’s longest-lasting number one single and undoubtedly their biggest hit to date.
5/ Christina Perri – A Thousand Years
This song has very much earned its place in this list being another popular choice for first dances. It’s also a really popular choice for the processional during the wedding ceremony as well!
I hope you’ve enjoyed looking at this list!
