The party usually starts with just two people on the dance floor with a huge circle of friends around them. It sounds pretty daunting but once you’re in the zone, just soak it all up and enjoy that special moment with your new husband or wife. But what song to choose? To help, here are 5 modern first dance songs that I’m playing right now!
1/ Florence & The Machine - You Got The Love
What is there not to love about this song? Florence has taken the Candi Staton hit and has taken it to a whole new level! To be fair, this is hugely popular dance floor smash as well as a fantastic choice for a first dance!
2/ Taylor Swift - Lover
I’ll be honest, i’m not a big Taylor Swift fan but there’s no denying she really does rattle out the bangers when it comes to songs and this is no exception, is it the perfect first dance track? Only you can decide!
3/ Jason Mraz feat. Colbie Caillat - Lucky
Having played this a few times this past few months it’s certainly a popular stand-out track amongst couples. It’s a great song, a quirky, happy pop song, perfect for the first dance shuffle!
4/ Mumford & Sons - Lover Of The Light
I’m not usually a big Mumford fan but their folky, festival anthems fill floors week after week. This is a beautiful song and if you’re an Idris Elba fan, you might want to watch the video – he co-directed it as well. Enjoy.
5/ Biffy Clyro - Space
A song originally conceived about a broken relationship but don’t let that put you off because it’s a beautiful celebration of true love, love that endures time and prospers as the years pass. Check out the album A Celebration of Endings too if you have time, it’s a great listen.
So there we have it, 5 amazing, modern first dance songs that couples have chosen recently for their post-COVID wedding in 2021.
